Benefits of Pilates

Pilates is a wholistic exercise and movement approach that improves strength, flexibility and mobility amongst other goals. Initially developed by Joseph Pilates in the 1920s, he pioneered strength, conditioning and rehabilitation work with the New York dance community. Over the years, the appeal of Pilates broadened as people from all walks of life gave the approach a try and embraced the comprehensive benefits that it has to offer. Working from the inside out, Pilates aims to work the right muscles at the right intensity. Its virtue is that it can be modified for people of all ages and fitness levels, and can change and evolve as your body does.
The benefits of Pilates are wide-ranging and programs can be tailored to suit individual needs and goals. These include:
  • Healthy ageing, including bone and pelvic floor health.
  • Tones and shapes the body.
  • Builds core strength and stability.
  • Boosts overall fitness, health and wellbeing.
  • Increases flexibility and ease-of-movement.
  • Improves posture, balance and coordination.
  • Stress management and relaxation.
  • Helps ease aches and pains.
